Staying Safe and Healthy With Ellie is an education game that teaches children the importance of practicing healthy habits and being aware of the risks they may face in everyday life. It is conceived as an interactive journey that requires children to answer questions, complete various challenges, and explore different environments in order to move forward. This game was designed for children aged 7-11, by a specialist team led by Mitten Claire.
Once the game has been started, players will be able to pick a character, Ellie or Carlos. After selecting a character, players are directed to a place of safety where they must make decisions and engage in different mini-games, quests, and challenges to progress in the game.
The game is filled with engaging mini-games that challenge players to answer questions, complete tasks, and interact with the environment around them. These mini-games range from the trivial, such as a matching game, to the more complex and informative when the player has to answer multiple-choice questions about the risks they may encounter in their daily lives. The objective of these mini-games is to reward the players with points, coins, and treasures that they can use to perform different actions.
Combining the different mini-games players can go on various quests to obtain items, solve puzzles and explore areas within the game world. These quests can range from obtaining a certain item or completing a puzzle to navigating through a virtual city while avoiding danger. The rewards for successful quests are points, coins and treasures that can be used to purchase different items or to advance in the game world.
Once players have selected a character and chosen a place of safety to explore, they can navigate around the game world using the mouse. The player will be able to explore different environments, such as a beach, a mountain, and a city, as well as interact with different objects, such as animals or plants, by clicking on them. Every space the player visits will offer a challenge such as a mini-game or a quest to complete.
Players can keep track of their inventory by opening a menu when they right-click on the screen. This menu shows all the items, coins, and treasures the player has collected throughout the game. Items can be used to purchase items or complete quests, coins can be used to purchase items or access mini-games, and treasures can be exchanged for coins or items.
Each challenge or quest that players successfully complete rewards the player with points, coins, and/or treasures. These points and coins can be used to access special items, purchase upgrades, or gain access to additional areas and challenges. The treasures found in the game can be exchanged for coins and items in the shop.
