Slap the Monkey is fairly easy to learn, but mastering it requires good reflexes. The game begins after the first character is unlocked. Here’s an overview of the game's main instructions:
At the start of the game, a character needs to be unlocked. To do this, the player needs to find and collect the items scattered throughout the level. Once all the items are found, the character can be unlocked and the game can start.
The main character is moved using the arrow keys/swiping on the touchscreen. Swiping left or right will move the character in those directions. To jump, the character can be controlled with the spacebar/by tapping the screen. By doing this, the character will jump up and reach higher platforms that otherwise couldn’t be accessed. As the levels increase, the character will move faster and the distance to be covered will be greater.
The game is won when the character reaches the finish line. To do this, the player needs to jump over obstacles, avoid enemies and collect coins. Different obstacles will require the player to time their jumps correctly, lest they should fall into the abyss below. Other than getting to the end of the level, the player can also try to collect all the coins scattered throughout the level. Collecting all the coins will unlock even more characters and special items.
The gameplay of Slap the Monkey is straightforward. The main goal of the game is to help the character to get from one side of the level to the other. The levels increase in difficulty as the players progress further.
The game is scored by collecting coins throughout the level. Players will be awarded a certain number of points for each coin collected. The total score for each level is then displayed after the completion of the level. This can also be used to compare different scores to other players.
Throughout each level, the player will encounter a variety of enemies and obstacles. These can vary from simple bombs and spiders to more challenging enemies like flying bats and jumping fireballs.
